IHSBCA wanted to highlight some of the IHSAA guidelines for the Fall out-of-season we are to abide by.

During School Year Out-of-Season (Rule 15-2.2)

If student-athletes are involved in a Fall baseball league, the maximum number of players from the same school on the same team is 5.  This rule is for when school is in session but that sport is not.  Example fall for baseball. The HS coach may not coach a team that has members from his HS on the team.

Conditioning Program (Rule 15-2.3)

Programs may condition 6 days a week (Monday-Saturday) as much as they would like.  Arm care is a part of Conditioning.  The “Week 26” limitation for this was a mis-print in the 24-25 IHSAA By-Laws.  It was removed but was missed on removing it from the print.  Mr. Faulkens assured us of this.  Remember that arm care can include “catch play” involving 1 partner and throwing only.  Throws/actions cannot be “game-like” (i.e. OF throwing to a base, INF doing double play, on a mound, etc.).  It should just be two individuals throwing to each other in a “catch-play” movement pattern.

Limited Contact Program (Rule 15-2.4)

Session #1 is week 9 - week 15  . . . 9/2/24-10/19/24

May have up to 3 Limited Contact sessions per week with each being 2 hours or less. Limited to 14 total sessions.  Essentially, teams can go twice a week for each of the allotted weeks.  However, teams can go 3 times a week if desired (up to the 14 total allotted) but not go the entire 7 weeks. Reminder that the days/hours are per kid and not the total team.

HS coaches that also coach travel ball  . . . .

We are “During School Year” now so if you coach a travel team with one of your HS players on it, you cannot be involved in games/practices with your travel team if the HS player is present. We want coaches to take the approach of being educated and aware of rules/expectations.  We don’t want the “ask for forgiveness later” approach.  When in doubt, always speak with your AD prior to.  Also, don’t hesitate to reach out to the IHSBCA execute council members with any questions you have.  We want to help.
