The IHSBCA Academic All-State Team is selected annually each May through nominations from our member coaches.  The nominees must be a senior and a member of their high school team in good standing.  There are 3 ways that a player can be selected for the team:

  • if a player is a valedictorian and salutatorian then they automatically qualify for the team;
  • if a player has a GPA of 4.000 or higher (on a 4-point scale), then they automatically qualify for the team;
  • If a player is not a valedictorian / salutatorian or doesn't have a GPA of 4.000 or higher, then we also have a formula that uses SAT scores and GPA to calculate an aggregate score....if that aggregate score is 8.000 or higher, then they automatically qualify for the team.

The team is announced on the IHSBCA website in June, but coaches can announce their players are a member of the team as soon as they are nominated and meet the qualifications.
